Fresno Famous

I started playing a game this week. It's called Six Degrees of Metallica and I totally moved up like four degrees now that two Fresno musicians (including Jes Reckless of The Backstabbers) are part of Jason Newsted's latest project. Newsted was part of Metallica when I liked Metallic (how cool-kid of me to say).

While metal fans get busy thinking up ways to get Newsted to play Fresno, there's still a local scene to tend to and it's full-up on shows again this weekend. Here is all the area's musical happenings. Here's your BANDGEEEEEEK!! 

TONIGHT

• It's indie-punk, post-hardcore, psych/surf rock and lo-fi twee-punk, with Happy, Aleutia  (both from San Francisco), Dr. Devito (from Bakersfield) and locals Sci-Fi Caper. At Fresno Brewing Company. 8 p.m. Free. All ages. (Flier link)
