The road that I live on is in Councilwoman Sterling's district. That would be District #3. I have taken to calling the present members of the city council "dwarfs". Let me explain.
Being good folks who have taken up the challenge of serving the public good, they have not been brilliant in getting Fresno to change much. Might be the fault of district elections, or due to folks serving on city council who have a hidden agenda in serving. It might be due to not wanting to go outside of the box, as the box they live in is crowded with folks just like them and are right comfy just doing the usual and not the extraordinary.
We are going to be holding elections here in Fresno. There are some folks who have come forward to be elected and do good for districts and Fresno. There is a crowd of present city council members running to become mayor. Case of dwarfs, pretending to be giants, when their past does not show them to be. Right daft that.
Councilwoman Sterling is into her second term and will be be made redundant at the end of. Not soon enough if you ask me. Councilwoman is a tired politician, who is comfy mouthing tired slogans and is completely out of touch with the neighborhoods and the folks of Fresno. Were I a councilperson and someone like me moved onto a gritty road and wanted to make change I would do everything in my power to support. Not Councilwoman Sterling. Were it not for aides in her office, the silence from Councilwoam Sterling would be deafening. She is barely able to keep up with correspondence, and seems right put out to walk the roads in her district.
When given the chance to replace Councilwoman Sterling, I will work tirelessly for any one who wants to provide my district with real change. And work for real change in Fresno.
Take a real good look at the councilwoman. Her smile is brilliant. Right shame that there is no lamp on in her loaf. She is a shining example of the lack of leadership on the city council. To be true, she is but one of the seven dwarfs. We should be thankful that the office of mayor is not on her agenda, how horrid would that be?
If you want more like Councilwoman Sterling serving on the council, just keep electing dwarfs, might even allow one of the present dwarfs to become the new mayor. You get the government you deserve.

Other cities have in place a system that requires cars to be moved to different side of the road on different days to allow a proper sweep. When I suggested this to Councilwoman she flat out refused to consider. Excuse was to spare me the added cost of a progrma with hidden cost. This same councilperson had no problem spending tax dollars on an expensive report. How daft is that.
The sweeping of the road can be done better and the chap in charge agrees with, but he can not get it done here. In Fresno nothing gets done, that is the problem.
She talks a good game but has not really helped the district.
She has done nothing for China Town or Downtown.
That flood the sidewalks and yards because there are no proper drains
I am sorry to see that my neighborhood isn't the only one who doesn't like the job the street sweeping service does. It seems like the street sweeper goes much too fast to have much of an effect in cleaning the road. It leaves behind a smear of mud that looks dirtier then before it came by in the first place.
Rob: What would be a better solution? ( besides driving slower)

Councilwoman Sterling is right proud of telling folks that she has worked very hard to raise the "quality of life in neighborhoods. On my road they graded the road so badly that pools of water stand and never drain off properly. She is against Fresno having a brilliant street sweeping program. Do not get me started about housing the homeless. Guess when you were in the business of placing dead folks in a coffin, it seems like a palace to offer a "box" to the homeless.
Councilwoman would be best served if she gave up her seat and let someone with energy try to help solve the problems of my district and Fresno. She needs a good LONG rest.
all she did it seems, was shut down a business in a blighted area, just because of of the type of business it was, even thought only a block away is Fresno's biggest shanty town / tent city (H and Monterey St.), and nothing major has been done for that place, you would think that they would take a clue from the story the grapes of wrath. Build some real Camps, with either a Barracks arrangement or Cabin rooms, something other than a tool shed.

you would think that the Housing Authorities would use there so called Authority and do something to help the truly in needed, besides giving them tents to live in.
