Solo fingerpicking acoustic guitar. Cover of the old New York Dolls song written by Johnny Thunders on the Dolls' 2nd album, Too Much Too Soon 1974. There's an almost bone-headed simplicity to John Anthony Genzale, Jr's lyrics and songwriting, but that never stopped any well-meaning rocknroller before, so why let it stop me now. It's that very simplicity that lets the emotion come through. Iggy has bragged about writing songs in 20-words-or-less. I rearranged a few of the chords to suit my ethos and fit the fingerpicking style.
I have to admit I've been influenced by Nick Dolezal and I've been working on this fingerpicking thing for about 6 months. I saw Restarnaut at the Fresno Fuse Festival some months ago and noticed how he could get so much sound out of an electric ukelele with only 4 strings. So, I play on only the top 4 strings of the guitar. It opened up a world of tones that I could hear more easily. But, let me tell you, fingerpicking is really hard, son. Strumming is way easier. But, here it is: my new direction. I've got the Martin plugged into a Mesa F30 and miked with a 57. For the vocals I'm using a Sterling 55 studio mike into the 24-track and video on the Canon HF-R21.
