If you've driven down Divisadero lately (down near Palm Avenue) you've do doubt notice that the Lamp Post has gotten itself a makeover. Like, seriously. The place looks legit. It's still dive-y, but a better class of dive. It wasn't until I saw this photo actually that I realized how much better it looks.
That's thanks to Chuck Leonard and Steve Duquette who took over the bar after it closed a few months back. They say it's can no longer be called a dive bar. As if that's a bad thing.
The Lamp Post re-opens at 3 p.m.today. That seems early, but I don't drink in the afternoon, so what do I know. Mike Oz over at the Beehive has a good post if you want more details, but here's a spoiler: There's a 100-inch TV. Craft beer (I'd be interested to know which). Jazz/ArtHop. And on and on. Plus, Chuck is also good for a laugh of two. So, go check it out, yeah?
