just wondering if anybody knows if there are any places in the Valley that are windy enough for wind power? they only need 13 mph winds, creating 300 watts per hour

San Gorgonio windmills can teach you a lot
Take a tour among the turbines and learn about green energy.

Or you can board a small white bus on the far side of Interstate 10 and admire windmills up close for 90 minutes.
Maybe you've already seen them on the way to your favorite resort in La Quinta -- those rows of tri-blade ivory towers spinning away like alien corn in the blustery San Gorgonio Pass near the exit to Palm Springs.

weather history
the valley is not that much of a windy place the average winds for these months are:
MAR 6.7 APR 7.4 MAY 8.1 JUN 8.3 JUL 7.4 AUG 6.8
April 5-12 mph winds from NW
May 7-14 mph
June 8-21 mph
June is the windiest month it also used to be a month for a local Kite flying event but you never hear about them here anymore unlike many coastal places.
if you want to build in a energy platform then get a offshore platform put a wave generation blowhole turbine some solar power arrays and a wind turbine all on a offshore platform then run a cable from it to the shore talk about free energy but the rates you charge will be used for the upkeep of this non polluting electric generating platform.
