* Mike Oz gives us the run down on what's happening with Fashawn. It looks like this guy is on the brink. Now, Fresno has/has had a lot of great musicians/bands, but few (if any) seem to be able to break what I'll call the "Fresno cap" and own it big-time on a national level, like a Korn or Granddaddy, let's say. Will Fashawn be the one? And how will that affect the bands/musicians working it on the home front? Having someone traveling the world saying he's from Fresno (like, actually claiming his hometown) can only be a good thing, right? Side question: Is there any band/performer I am forgetting about? Not K-Fed. Also: This is not discounting the likes Patrick Contreras/Eva Scow/40 Watt Hype/Armen Nalbanian who I know have done some impressive stuff.
* Bryan, over at Dumb Drum has some news on an awesome looking documentary the whole Fresno-pool-skater thing. I'm totally interested in seeing this, though I'm wondering (as Ed did in the comments) what is its intention. Is this a look at the sub-culture of underground pool skaters? Is it a look at the housing market and where it went wrong? Can it be both? The whole thing leaves me lots of questions, which I guess is good marketing. I'll say this: They went to the source as far as the local housing/building industry folks.
Hey, Famous Whitewater
I thought stealing from other bloggers was MY thing?! You're stealing my...stealing...idea.
Good point on the Fresno and OWNING IT with Fashawn. I hope he keeps up the Fresno representing. It always annoyed me when Korn would say they were an LA band and rarely mention they were from Bakersfield.

If you want to read more about the doc, I talked to the Paynie guy and wrote about it a couple weeks ago in my Friday column.
