Brothers of the Baladi are coming to Full Circle Brewery in Fresno with "Strictly Belly Dancing" featuring local veteran dancers Cory Zamora, Ely Buffin, Annette, and special guest, Bay'la Zena
Brothers of the Baladi return to Fresno for a night of high energy Middle Eastern World Music. The Brothers will feature music from the Grammy nominated CD, Just Do What’s Right as well as their other ten CDs and they will also present Fresno’s finest Belly Dancers. Brothers of the Baladi are noted as a great dance band that covers Arabic, Turkish, Armenian, Persian and Latin music as well as their own original Global Rock styling. The band’s recent tours of England and subsequent shows around the US have brought raves from the press and fans alike.
The SF Weekly writes: Just Do What’s Right is a boundary crossing cultural musical fusion with messages of peace and harmony. These guys use seductive tools like singing in seven languages and using the exotic rhythms of belly dancing to lure in their crowds.”
Bandleader, vocalist and drummer Michael Beach has kept his band on the road for over thirty years while he delights everyone with vocals in seven languages, high energy drumming on the traditional Middle Eastern drum, the dumbek and he blows his Middle Eastern reeds, the mizmar and the midjwiz. The band’s instrumentation also includes traditional stringed instruments of the Middle East, the oud and saz, while anchored with electric guitar, bass, keyboards and traditional drum set.
“Known for taking many liberties with Middle Eastern instrumentation and traditions, Brothers of the Baladi bring to the table an organic, free-spirited sonic brew of some of the best elements in world music.” (Boulder Daily Camera)
