i was checking my email today and saw an announcement from something cool upcoming from creative fresno & the metropolitan museum. it's been a long time coming, but the met's about to reopen and their kick-off weekend will be a blast. creative fresno's putting on two things that seem pretty cool to me.

MindForum: The Greenest Building
is The One Already Built
Creative Fresno bring together a panel of distinguished local architects to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of reusing (not tearing down) our historic buildings, many of which have outlived their original function. In designing it for a new function (often called adaptive reuse) new life can be given to the urban landscape.
Join Creative Fresno and the Met in learning about saving our existing urban fabric and living in a cool urban lifestyle.
Panel:
Russ Taylor, Taylor Teter Partnership
Chris Johnson, Johnson Architecture
Anthony Pings, Anthony Pings and Associates
Paul Miller, The Vernal Group
As part of the the Fresno Metropolitan Museum's 55-hour grand re-opening, this event is free.

new town guest
check out other creative fresno events. i've enjoyed the few that i've been to, and would actually like to see more of what they're doing.
I was there too. It was horrible.
This was my first Creative Fresno event and since I'm new to town, I was really looking forward to seeing what the local creative scene was like. At first I thought I must have been at the wrong place. I was glad for the chance to see the Met, but was shocked at the chaos of the happy hour. If the margaritas has been consumeable I may have been able to tolerate the screaming kids.
maybe we can call it a crappy hour
"filled with screaming children smashing into peaople and spilling drinks."
i actually complained to someone from creative fresno about the discrepancies. it did stink that the drink prices had changed, that there were a ton of kids, and that pretty much it wasn't what was advertised.
and, i hear the margaritas sucked (i had a beer).
oh well, not everything always lives up to the hype. i still got to hang out with some friends and see a little bit of the revamped met.
and the lime green stairwell is the best. seriously.
creative fresno's prehistoric happy hour & mindforum discussion
This was a really lame event! Drinks were $5, not $3 as advertised! There were no appetisers and it certainly was not limited to "Met enthusiasts over 21" but was filled with screaming children smashing into peaople and spilling drinks.
