CITY LEADERS INTRODUCE “CLOVIS BIG WINS DAY”
City of Clovis Unveils its own Economic Stimulus Package

Clovis, CA, December 1, 2008 – On Wednesday, December 10, 2008, City of Clovis retailers, customers and the entire Clovis community will all benefit from an experiment called “Big Wins Day.”

In what is believed to be the first ever effort of its kind, the City of Clovis has developed a plan to inject an additional $1,000,000 into its economy in one 24-hour period. The simple plan is to make high-quality prizes available to consumers just for shopping in Clovis on that day. For every $10 spent in retail stores, grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants, customers will receive one (1) ticket towards a chance to win in a series of drawings. The lucky winners will win prizes that range from flat screen TVs to free gas and more.

Customers simply bring their receipts for purchases made on December 10, 2008 to Sierra Vista Mall’s Center Court, the redemption location. They will receive their tickets based on the total dollar amount of their purchase(s). City of Clovis representatives will be on hand to pass out the tickets and answer any questions the general public may have from 9:00am to 7:00pm. A drawing will be held, and the prizes given away at Sierra Vista Mall’s Community Park starting at 7:30pm. The park is located in front of the Sierra Vista Cinemas 16 Theater. Winners must be present to win, no exceptions. Sierra Vista Mall is on the southeast corner of Clovis and Shaw Avenues in Clovis.

Customers who purchase vehicles from participating dealers will be automatically entered into a separate drawing for a 32 inch, flat screen, high definition TV as well as $100 worth of gas, professional car detailing and many other great prizes.

“Clovis area households are clearly pulling back on their spending. As a result, many local merchants are gambling on the holiday season to make or break them,” explained Clovis City Manager Kathy Millison. “As a city, we need to do everything possible to help them hedge their bet.”

Official Rules:

1. Customer will receive one (1) ticket for every $10 spent at retail stores located within the City of Clovis from a City of Clovis representative located inside Sierra Vista Mall’s Center Court.
2. Purchases must be made on December 10, 2008 between the hours of 12:00am and 7:00pm.
3. Customer must present receipts at the official Big Wins Day redemption center to receive tickets. Official Clovis Big Wins Day Redemption Center will be located at Sierra Vista Mall’s Center Court. 1050 Shaw Avenue, Clovis, CA 93612.
4. Receipts must be redeemed by 7:15pm on December 10, 2008.
5. Big Wins Day drawing will begin at approximately 7:30pm on December 10, 2008.
6. Drawing will be held at Sierra Vista Mall’s Community Park. 1050 Shaw Avenue, Clovis, CA 93612.
7. To calculate the number of Big Wins Day tickets received by any customer, the total amount of all receipts will be rounded down to the nearest $10. For example, if the customer presents receipts that total $37, that customer will receive three (3) Big Wins Day tickets.
8. The maximum number of tickets that any one person may obtain is one hundred (100).
9. Employees and elected and appointed officials of the City of Clovis government are not eligible to participate.
10. No purchase necessary. To obtain a free ticket to be included in the Clovis Big Wins Day drawing, visit the customer service booth located inside Sierra Vista Mall’s Center Court between 9:00am and 7:00pm on December 10, 2008.
