Digital Music & Film Lecture/Demo

On Sunday, July 19, William Malpede and Rick Garcia, guest artists in the CSU Summer Arts "New Frontiers in Digital Music and Media" class will be presenting a Film Scoring & Digital Music lecture/demo at
2:00 p.m. at the Fresno Art Museum. They will explain how the film and music industries work together to create soundtracks for films and interlude music for film and television.

William Malpede (www.williamvmalpede.com) is a composer/arranger who has composed music for numerous independent feature films and has served as technical assistant and synth programmer to composer Christopher Young on the features Urban Legend, Runaway Jury, and Spiderman 3. Mr. Malpede has toured extensively as a principal keyboardist with several Broadway national tours including Cats, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Mamma Mia!, and Music of the Night.

Rick Garcia has co-written and performed more than 40 songs for such major films as Seven Pounds, Brokeback Mountain, My Best Friend’s Girl, Collateral, Bangkok Dangerous, and The Interpreter. He is currently writing songs for numerous upcoming films. He remians one of the most in demand singer/songwriters working in film today.
