Please join the Downtown Community Arts Collective for ArtHop on April 2, 2009.
Featured this month is resident artist, Aimee J. Brantley with guest artist Tyra SugarBaby Vasquez also featuring Firemystics and music by Flamenco Fusion Duo.
Aimee J. Brantley was born and raised in Fresno. She has lived in Monterey, Shaver Lake and has spent a substantial amount of time on the Central Coast. Aimee has gravitated to the visual arts for as long as her memory serves. Growing up, she looked at art as a survival technique. This is her impetus behind her involvement with the DCAC.
Thirteen year-old 8th grader, Tyra SugarBaby Vasquez, will be showing her paintings in the studio of Andrew Watrous for the month of April. Tyra is the daughter of DCAC volunteer, Joey Fernandez. Tyra has shown a commitment to her growth as a painter and to the students at the DCAC under the mentorship of resident artist Erica Hassenbeck.
Firemystics:
The fire dancing troop The Fire Mystics will be performing at the DCAC for April 2, 2009 ArtHop. This is a rare chance to see fire dancing in Fresno.
Flamenco Fusion:
Flemenco Fusion will be performing at DCAC's April 2, 2009 ArtHop. This duo of guitarists will entertain in the main gallery.
Genesis Family continues their generous support of DCAC:
Every other Saturday of the month Genesis Family kids enter the DCAC where the resident artists set up workshops. Genesis Family and DCAC have been teamed up for eight months and have continued to work together with at-risk youths.
