Educating Fresno on Art & Science: become a Met Docent!

Calling all art and science enthusiast!

The Fresno Metropolitan Museum offers an interesting and beneficial opportunity to continue educating the world about art.
And who would the educator be?

Well, you of course. I’m referring to our docent program where community members serve as the educators for museum attendee’s. Docent’s receive training sessions from museums curators and inside experts regarding the current exhibitions at the Met and then volunteer to provide tours and information to our general public.

If you are an art and/or science advocate this is your opportunity to get the inside scoop about our exhibitions and increase the wealth of artistic and intellectual knowledge in our community.

Cameron Manuszak, 22, Met docent said the following of why he is a docent, “As a child I loved visiting museums. Being a docent lets me live out a piece of my childhood and give back to my community.”

Our current docents are gearing up to educate the public for our four newest exhibitions: Chagall for Children, Chagall: The Early Etchings from the 1920s, The Art Books of Henri Matisse, and The Art of Dr. Seuss: A Retrospective Exhibition. I encourage you to come in and chat with one of our museum docents about your opportunity here at the Met.

For more info on becoming a docent call Ann Wanger, Volunteer Manager at (559) 441-1444.
