I consider myself a true fan of Mexican food, and I've eaten at so many restaurants around town. I felt I should write about El Bajio. Many of us know about Toledo's. A fine family run Mexican restaurant with several locations in the Fresno and Clovis area. However, their is a little lesser known offshoot of the brand called El Bajio. As far as I know they have only two El Bajio restaurants in town. Now, what's the difference between these two other than their name. Not much, just the fact that El Bajio offers tastier food, and MUCH BETTER service! El bajio's menu is almost identical to Toledo's. However, their items cost less, taste better, and are served with a smile.
Lately every trip to Toledo's has been a bit of a disappointment, service is lacking, the food is not quite what it seems on the menu, even the meatballs in the meatball soup was red and raw. In fact, one time I visited Toledo's (location on Shaw and Fresno, across from Fashion Fair) and their was a roach in my glass of soda. I've gone back since, but the experiences don't get much better. I don't know if maybe Toledo's is just overly confident with all their commercials, but El Bajio is by far a better bargain! In the mean time, make mine marvel!
