The Garden Give and Take is a plant exchange and community event that is sponsored by the Fresno County Women’s Chamber of Commerce (FCWCC). It will take place on Saturday, October 25 from 8 AM to 1 PM at National University, 20 River Park Place West at Friant Road and Fresno Street, south of Woodward Park. Participants bring their excess plants -- bulbs, cuttings, seeds, transplants, etc. -- and/or take what they need for their yard. It’s not necessary to “give” a plant in order to “take” a plant. All are welcome to participate! The Master Gardeners will be on hand to help identify plants and answer gardening questions.
GG&T features a benefit drawing for the Ethel McCormack Memorial Scholarship Fund. These scholarships are awarded to students who are majoring in Plant Science or Business at Fresno City College, CSU Fresno and Reedley College. Drawing tickets are $1 each or 12 tickets for $10. The prizes are always exciting and interesting, and the proceeds go to a great cause.
2008 is the 40th anniversary of GG&T, which was founded in 1968 by Ethel McCormack, a member of the Fresno County Women’s Chamber of Commerce (FCWCC). GG&T has been an important service of the Chamber ever since, and this year will usher in a new dimension of GG&T, a chance for the community to get to know more about the FCWCC. Members of the Women’s Chamber will be present at GG&T with information and outreach tables to help educate the community about the many different faces the FCWCC represents. Some of the participants this year are Pre-Paid Legal Services, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Aquarius Aquarium, REC Solar, AtHome America, New York Life, Dinner My Way, Cookie Lee Jewelry and Susan Stiltz Landscape Design & Consulting, with many more to come.
