A rant: Am I along in not giving a flying flack about the Grammys last night? Like not in the least. I'll admit I'm not down with popular music for the most part, but am I that out of touch?
I'll grant The Beehive its live blogging of the telecast (and congrats on its 190-plus comments), but really, does an event like this deserve almost two-full pages of coverage the day after? Cause that's what The Paper gave it.
Or, am I being dramatic? If so tell me to stop.
On a separate note: Rumor has it (OK, it not just rumor) that Teazer World Tea Market will be opening a second location in the Galleria downtown. Yes, downtown. It should be open in the next few weeks and will have long hours (so, like after six p.m.) Monday to Saturday, serving all the usual tea stuffs along with some light snacks.
I think this will be a great fit downtown and is a idea (if not brave in the current economic climate), and if anyone can make it work it is Anne.
Look for more info here soon.
Grammies (out of touch??)
@famouswhitewater:
you wrote: "am I that out of touch?"
---out of touch with what?
If you don't watch The Bachelor are you also
'out of touch'?
----that being said. I forgot about Radiohead being contenders. Did the 'rainbows' album get any love?
I'd re-tell my story about not watching since I got the hives while watching the show 15 years ago, but I've told that one too many times.
Yeah, but all those comments
Yeah, but all those comments were made by 5 people.
the grammies were important
the grammies were important enough for me to forget they were on. and when i finally noticed and flipped over, lil wayne was mumbling about new orleans and how he was doing his song for them. it made me wonder what else he does for new orleans now.
and no, the paper shouldn't be giving 2 pages of coverage of what is becoming an increasingly irrelevant event.
Yes the Grammys suck. They
Yes the Grammys suck. They are notorious for giving people whoops-we-should've-given-you-a-grammy-when-you-were-good-but-since-you-made-an-okay-album-we'll-give-you-something-now awards and this year (Plant winning) was no exception. And the fact that rock is almost gone (Coldplay and U2 don't count as rock) is tragic. Dave Grohl drumming behind McCartney and Radiohead were good though.
And to Fresnoise's point, I couldn't help but think that Joe Satriani must be pissed that Coldplay is accepting awards for HIS song.

Grammys
I didn't watch it this year. But, ever since they ignored all those rock bands 50's-80's
they've lost integrity.
imo One interesting thing about it this year, was that Joe Satriani's atty vowed that he would have an army of process-servers staked out to swoop in and serve Coldplay with the copyright infringement papers while the awards were going on. I had to find out if the charge was remotely valid. So here's a good analysis
of the two songs. I think Satriani has, at least a small amount of validity to his charge. There's a similarity. And Coldplay
copied Kraftwerk's Computer Love on their song Talk.
