A general plea to those who like historic landmarks The gas station on VanNess Blvd is valuable and worth saving. Neighbors (2) have complained and it will be shut down unless we all get behind it and save it. The neighbors have a valid complaint, but this is a LANDMARK and has been there since 1926. i'm not sure where i stand on this issue either.
i think it's cool to have a small, local car repair shop operating. but, i also think that businesses need to comply with their conditional use permits (which is a bigger issue than the amount of neighbos that complained.
also, i find it important to point out that the building is a historical landmark, not the business that is currently operating in it. the station would not being going anywhere, but the business owner may have his permit to use the building.
Where?

WHERE???
I'm not sure
how I come down on this issue, both sides have strong merit. I don't think I would like living right across the street from a busy car repair shop, but them again I live almost across the street from the BNSF tracks and I've learned to live with that. A 7-11? God forbid,
leave the car shop. Maybe the owner, since he's doing so well could divert a portion of his business to another location so as to limit noise and congestion. Also, maybe a business like a produce stand or a thrift store would be less controversial in such a neighborhood.
