Destiny Entertainment is proud to present internationally known hip hop activist, Jasiri X, performing on Wednesday, January 7, 2009. He will be performing along with several local poets and spoken word artists at The Starline - located at 831 E Fern, Fresno, CA, 93728 (in the Tower District). The cover is $7.

Founded by Fresno radio DJs and activists Lady J and Lady Bombay, The SoulTree Lounge has been a unique, weekly open-mic poetry event for almost two years. As the SoulTree Lounge has come to an end... the legacy of unity, artistic expression, and lucrative networking will be carried into the new year and beyond. This event will be an opportunity to celebrate the great things that are coming out of the Central Valley and to have a great time in a positive atmosphere. Jasiri X will be featured at this event along with several other local artists. This is an event unlike any other Fresno has ever seen.
Jasiri X, an MC, activist and entrepreneur, recently burst onto national and international Hip-Hop scenes with the controversial hit song “FREE THE JENA 6″ which was played on more than 100 radio stations and over 500,000 times on the internet and won “Single of the Year” at the Pittsburgh Hip-Hop Awards. His next big single was a searing commentary on the Sean Bell murder titled “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”. The single spread like wildfire - leading to Jasiri X’s first performance in New York City and a taped appearance on BET’s Rap City. “This Week With Jasiri X”, a groundbreaking Hip-Hop news series that has attracted an unprecedented internet audience, is his latest masterpiece.
Jasiri X’s resume includes being featured on the Michael Baisden Show, AllHipHop.com, DaveyD.com, The Source Magazine, The Final Call, Pittsburgh Tribune Review, and many other media outlets. As President of Leading Young Rappers in Career Success, Jasiri successfully navigates communication with today’s youth via speaking (and teaching adults) the language of Hip Hop. A founding member of “1 HOOD”, a group comprised of strong black men determined to heal the wounds of the community with a proactive approach, Jasiri X is currently working on his first full length CD.
