New Fresno DownTown Lofts

I went to the first showing of the Fresno Downtown Lofts on the 11th and 14th floor. I do have to say, "WOW" awesome view. The lofts are beautiful, modern looking with hard wood floors, modern appliances, great views. I had the pleasure to see the entire valley skyline lite up from 11th and 14th floor. It looks just like overseeing the suburbs in Chicago. Just beautiful. The only thing I didn't like is the price. Starting at $420K for the smallest condo, it was to much for a first time try in our downtown. There is no much to do downtown and I think the price should have been set at 1/2 that. But, I would love to visit them for now until something more priced for Fresno comes.

Lofts, a city within a city.......

They need to get some larger hub things downtown to draw people there, like a major high end New grocery store, or a Lowes, Orchard's etc. and speciality shops that would draw people there (residents) to be able to really live and work and utilize the work/loft concept, they need to really create a cool city within a city.

Every loft/work concept that has been successfull has all the neccesities right there, you need to be able to walk and or bike around safely, and have the above things close and handy, I would like to see more cities revitalize downtown areas in cities with the loft concept, they could make them pretty cool but they need a few major players to make these work well.

The price seems a little high. You would think that having no yard and it being down town would make the prices more affordable. I live in a regulare house in NW Fresno. I like the loft idea, but not the price.

We are building a house from scratch for half that downtown, but I'm sure the view is really nice.

They were supposedly priced at twice the average square footage of homes in Fresno. This is how it is in LA or SF (according to a recent post on here). I have no doubt they're awesome, but I do see limited appeal given the recession and housing crisis. When you're trying to sell, generally you don't wanted the nicest house in the neighborhood, because you're not likely to get top dollar. I think that's the situation these lofts are in, in spades.
