Famous has reviewed its coverage of the arts and entertainment in Fresno, and especially its event listings. In most cases we found what we reported was an accurate reflection of the state of our knowledge at the time, much of it painstakingly extracted from artists, musicians, and performers that were themselves dependent on sketchy information. In our review, we found an enormous amount of coverage we are proud of.
But we have found a number of instances of coverage that was not as rigorous as it should have been. The most glaring example can be found last week, when we failed to inform the public that porn and reality TV superstar
Ron Jeremy would be performing his stand up comedy live, for three nights, at Fresno's Golddiggers strip club.
On March 17-20, Mr. Jeremy performed with porn star and former California gubernatorial candidate
Mary Carey (this is a porn star's blog- NSFW) at the Fresno club, as part of its anniversary celebration. Fresno Famous failed to make mention of this appearance.
Some critics of our coverage have focused blame on individual reporters, or shockingly, the editor. Our examination, however, indicates that the problem was more complicated. Our readers, and the event's promoters, failed to contact Famous with the pertinent information. For the record, event information should be emailed to events @ fresnofamous.com.
We consider the story of Ron Jeremy's Fresno appearance, and of the pattern of misinformation, to be unfinished business. And we fully intend to continue aggressive reporting aimed at setting the record straight.
