Oct. 20, 6.30 p.m.
Admission: Free, RSVP required
Location: Corridor 2122, 2122 Mono St.
Participants: Robert Boro, Stephen Dent, Edward Lund, Jeff Knowlton, Michael Maltzan, Laura Meyer, Ed Osborn, Naomi Spellman, and Claudia Tennyson.
After a yearlong series of site-specific projects implemented throughout the diverse neighborhoods of Fresno, Off-Site concludes with a panel discussion addressing issues of site-specificity, of place and space. The Met is collaborating with Corridor 2122 to realize this event.
Artists Jeff Knowlton, Ed Osborn, Naomi Spellman, and Claudia Tennyson, who created projects as part of the Off-Site series, together with landscape architect Robert Boro, artists Stephen Dent and Edward Lund, architect Michael Maltzan, and art history professor Laura Meyer will discuss questions such as: What kind of place is Fresno? Which characteristics do we appreciate, take for granted, or disregard? Can site-specific art change our understanding of a place, reinstate values, or encourage towards action?
At the time of the panel discussion a publication documenting the Off-Site series will be available for sale.
Off-Site is organized by Susanneh Bieber, Curator of Art at the Fresno Metropolitan Museum.
Off-Site is supported by grants from The James Irvine Foundation and the Bonner Family Foundation.
