COPS: CURRY VILLAGE

Have you ever stayed at Yosemite's Curry Village? The tents, the vista's, the pizza and beer.

I recently stayed in the Curry tents (way overpriced) and they wouldn't be that bad if they weren't so close together. The person in the next tent is like two feet away and you can hear all kinds of things: snoring, farting and stuff even more un-savory...like singing.

You can also hear people getting arrested while trying to leave the Curry Village Bar-the only real hot night spot in Yosemite, by the way.

Check out some bad video I got (rarely does the video get focused) while in Curry Village this past weekend- watch out for some F-bombs:

Try surviving a summer

Try surviving a summer around those cops, federal laws and all. I spent the last 3 months right next to Curry Village, in Boystown, a place where it is even easier to get in trouble with Rangers than the Curry Deck Bar. Most of the time if you weren't harrassed while leaving the bar, stopped on bike in the parking lot to be given a breathelizer, or harrassed while stumbling from the bathroom to your tent on a late night...While you often heard of, sometimes saw, and hoped that you didn't receive a knock on your tent door...Most of the time this would follow with an order from a Ranger to step out side of your tent, and if you did you would be arrested for drunk in public.

At any rate I survived my summer in Boystown(Yosemite Valley, right next to Curry). Though I did get to witness and hear of quite a few crazy arrest scenarios because of the bored arrest-happy Rangers up there.

One of my favorite stories happened a while ago, but you might still notice that there are no glass pitchers available on the Curry deck, or 40 oz beers in the Curry store. At any rate, some folks started to get really drunk at the Curry deck, when a Ranger confronted them or tryed to arrest them for being drunk at a bar...One thing led to another and some glass pitchers were thrown at the Ranger...Then the alleged drunk people made a get away to the top of Curry, aka Girlstown or Terrace employee housing...Where some tent cabins were on the top of the rock pile/little hill and the alleged drunkards held the Rangers at bay with 40 oz bottles, even hitting a Ranger in the face, before a gun was fired by the Ranger...

So no more 40 oz bottles, no more glass pitchers, and no more Ranger that drew his gun and fired on a bunch of drunkards on the top of the hill...
