Liar, liar, pants on fire:
so, why did we go into Iraq in the first place?
WMD, to topple Hussein, the al-Qaeda connection, nation-building?
The winner is:
the neo-con's dream,
Of installing democracy in the Middle East.
Stay the course:
for last 2 more years of the Bush Presidency, why?
So that George W. Bush will not be listed as the president who "lost Iraq". That blame will go to the next prez, probably a Democrat, who will be vilified by the "Republican Noise Machine".
Pro-choice:
so take a bullet now, or later?
Option 1:
let Bush run his war, let more GI's die, spend $ 2 billion each month, create more Islamic jihadists and end the war in 2 years, or
Option 2:
announce the end of the war now, stating that 3 things will happen;
1) redeploy troops; in support of Kurds (to protect them from the Turks, who have issues with their own Kurds), use the rest to seal the borders,
2) send top-level envoys to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, & Syria to start negotiating end to the Shia-Sunni civil war & the U.S. occupation & the future of the entire region,
3) announce that a new department has been created in 'Radio Free America', for pro-democracy forums, panels, & news in Arabic, Farsi & other regional languages.
Then, "Get out of Dodge!!!"
looks like the flood gates are open
ever since the election, there's been a steady stream of negative comments in the Bee, other media, etc...
support eroded so rapidly in the GOP; let's see how desperate the Bushies/RR/Neo-cons are to win, especially after more info on the Palme CIA leaks come out in the Scooter Libby trial
my guess is, that Chuck Hagel is only the first batch of the Repugs that abandons Bush before they lose any more elections, next will be the tidal wave, as more Repugs position themselves to "appear" as moderates, pragmatists, realists, etc…
they don't want to hear the voices that 'Bush the Decider' does
the news:
http://www.abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=1856539
"I hear the voices and I read the front page and I know the speculation," the president said testily. "But I'm the decider and I decide what's best. And what's best is for Don Rumsfeld to remain as the secretary of defense."
Or the song:

excellent
thanks for that.
seriously"?
let's reverse engineer this, what is the current outcome of events in Iraq?
1) sectarian violence,
2) 3,000+ dead GI's,
3) possibility of Iraq splitting into 3 parts; 1 of which would be an Iranian ally (Shia south), 1 which would be the hot-bed of islamic jihadists (Sunni triangle), the last (Kurdish), which would be hard-pressed by Turkey into Anschluss or outright war (because of its own Kurdish problems).
4) thousands in unaccounted weapons, bombs, mortar shells, ex-Baathist soldiers, recently trained ex-Iraqi soldiers
5) billions of $$$$ wasted, no auditing, no-bid contracts, mostly American contractors & vendors, war profiteering, accounting irregularities
6) Iraqi oil infrastructure & industry in shambles, world-wide prices fluctuating
7) no WMD's or al-quada connection found
8) current training ground for jihadists
9) supposed frontline battlefield in the war on terror
10) anti-democratic, non-constitutional solutions to fighting the war on terror (Gitmo, waterboarding, Abu Gravid
11) not knowing enough Arabic, to tell friend from foe
12) not understanding Arabic culture or islam enough to praise good, counter bad
13) disillusionment by Americans, Iraqis, the world on positive outcome or support of Bush's war
Solution: its to late to put the hornets' nest back & hope for the best, but possibility of doing 5 things to lessen the danger
1) convene Shia-Sunni conflict resolution court to bring people together, bridge differences, find solutions
2) pull US forces out of Iraq, let Iraqis stand up
3) micromanage the $$$, investigate waste, follow the $$$, see who profited, subpoena white-collars, serious jail time for offenders
4) nationalize Iraq oil industry, have Iraqis guard oil infrastructure & delivery
5) have a 'Manhattan Project' crash course in Arabic, islam & Muslim history; for academia, military & politicians involved in world affairs, (to paraphrase 'Starship Troopers', "to defeat the enemy, we must first know the enemy"
letter
a few years ago, I saw some letters posted on line from PNAC that were written to Clinton in 1997 urging him to go to war with Iraq... Those Neo-con's have been wanting to do that for years before it even was started. 9-11 was used as an excuse to get some of the public behind the invasion.
orcaoid
from what I've gathered from some of your other writings, you're former military, and have been stationed other places besides here.
What's your take on this, seriously.
Be as prolific as you want, (worse that will happen? somebody will erase it or accuse you of being too wordy.)
(-I think I got the wordy stigma sewn up...)
Just spill.
What do you think?
