90.7 KFSR's Evening Eclectic En Vivo!!!
90.7 KFSR's Evening Eclectic comes alive with a this special event, featuring Brazzaville (from Barcelona, Spain), Fresno's own The Same Shape, and Merced favorites El Olio Wolof. The show starts at 9:30pm. Admission is a $10 donation to 90.7 KFSR, and includes a FREE CD! This is a 21+ event. The Crossroads is located at 3315 E. Cedar Ave, at the NW corner of Cedar and Shields.

A worldly rock band with a sound described by some as a "musty noir tropicalia," (LA Weekly) Brazzaville's current world tour includes stops in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Los Angeles, and Fresno. After touring the world as Beck's saxophone player, Brazzaville front man David Brown started his own band, moved to Barcelona, and created a cult following in Russia. They've been featured on NPR, KCRW and MTV-Russia.

Well, it also was an excellent trio (one of the few to feature bari-sax as a key component,
had no guitars, just a bass and drums...
in fact, one of their albums was called 'cure for pain.' (highly recommend the band, -unfortunately we lost the lead singer at too young an age, heart attack I believe...)
Clearly a forerunner of the neo-noir psycho-billy/rock-a-billy, and 'roadhouse/lounge trends...
(Like these guys were hitting about the same time as the earliest of the grunge acts were starting to roll, -even sooner... True Pioneers in retread...)

We've just added the rock and roll violin virtuoso Patrick Contreras to our already ridiculously awesome lineup. Patrick will warm up the stage starting at around 9 o clock...and from what i hear, he'll have a STRING SECTION with him.

Evening Eclectic En Vivo
The MySpace we've set up for the show has really been a hidden blessing -- i've been getting a growing response from out-of-towners who are big Brazzaville fans.
There are groups of fans coming from Long Beach, San Diego, the East Bay, Santa Cruz and a "maybe" from one rabid fan in Flagstaff!!! I'm working on setting up a meet-and-greet with the band as well...more info on that later!!

Based upon what I've heard from all three of these bands, (any one of which could level a venue???)
This may be quite possibly one of the best shows of the season...
(Possibly the whole year...)
(and at 15 to 20 per ticket it would still be a steal... (10.00 is bargain basement price...)
