As Community Medical and UMC merge into one downtown location, reports are surfacing about a fatal blunder at Community. The LA Times is reporting two doctors at Community misdiagnosed a patient as brain dead, paving the way for his organs to be harvested.

The man's daughter said the first two doctors to declare her father brain dead seemed rushed and demanded a third opinion. She believes the organ donation group was a tad over-anxious:

After Sanchez agreed to donate, she said, she got calls "at least twice a day" from the organ group, saying: "We have to get the body parts in a certain time. Your dad can be a life-saver to someone else. How is he doing today? Did he go up or down?"
