If you slept on Thursday night's 5yr anniversary of the INNER EAR, YOU MISSED OUT! The show was an overwhelming success with a full house that quickly became standing room only that totaled 175 people. The poetry was flowing, the beer was cold, and the atmosphere was Hot! Thank you to those who keep coming back for not letting us go by the wayside like so many other shows that have come before us. And allowing us to continue to provide something different than the "usual" night out.
...And to those sleepers out there-
This city (that's right, I said it!) is not dead! Sometimes, you just have to be more aware of your surroundings, be willing to try something new or different; take a chance. Thursday night, Beau Sia from HBO's Def Poetry ROCKED THE HOUSE with his one of a kind slam poetry and local boy done good, Tim Hernandez, took us to another level with his words of truth. And who could forget our Sacrificial Poet, the one and only Ms. Francine Oputa, screaming out her love of poetry! Not to mention the sweet musical stylings of the Tommy D Allstars in between sets and the five year retrospective film short by Timmy Bryant.
Altho' we didn't get to everyone that sign their named on the open mic
list, and their were some problems with the EQ and PA for the vocalists, those who did go up, did themselves and Fresno proud! It really was a one of a kind experience!
Next month, we do it allover again with our regular show, featuring another poet from out of town(Denver, Colorado)as our headliner plus our own writers and performers.
The show starts at 7:30pm-11pm every 3rd Thursday once a month at
Full Circle Brewing Co. 620 F st.
(on the corner of F & Ventura next to the 99)
