Sweaty independent cinema

Revolutionaries are wanted to march this afternoon in support of indie cinema. Amber Kandarian, maker of the documentary Respect the Doc, is organizing a march to try and convince Edwards to devote one measly screen to local and indie film.

A noble pursuit indeed. The march begins at the corner of lost causes, aka Peace Fresno Junction, aka Shaw and Blackstone. Show your love of indie movies by walking all the way up to Edwards Cinema on Nees. In case you're wondering, yes, it's true sales pitches go over better when you're sweaty. Fair weather [yuk] supporters could conceivably join in at Herndon.

Name that mascot contest! The California state senate has passed legislation banning the use of "Redskins" as mascots. Tulare Union and Chowchilla High will need to find new mascots if the bill makes it through the assembly, and we'd like to help them out.

The Blackjacks? The Tax-Free Smokers? The Alcoholics? Or what about The Slave Drivers? The Union Busters? The Pillagers? The Corporate Welfare Queens? Suggestions welcome.
