Remember all the
fun we had
dishing on the new
KFSR? The good times are back, thanks to some tweeting birdies that say DJs will only be allowed to pick 5% of the songs they play; the other 95% will be from a playlist handed down from above. Back in June, we
wrote a story about how KFSR was going to try and be more like
KCRW, pretty much the nation's most respected "college" station (They've also got funky local and NPR programming. Not a station easily emulated).
Tune in today for the local music marathon and see for yourself what the new target demographic is. Check out this
line-up:
Surf music with Chris Eckes, haiku and poetry set to music, Mike Smith contemporary and traditional folk, blues harmonica with John Clifton of Mofo Party Band, Doc Morse rockabilly and country swing, Roger Perry, folk and bluegrass with Bruce Honeyman and Terry Barrett, Jimmy Collier with rock, folk and '60s protest music, Vince Thomas finger-picking guitar and ballads.
No more indie rock for you!
Except for tomorrow between 3pm and 6pm, when Panty Lion
Ashod Simonian will be in the studio talking about his rocker exploits and SoCal via Fresno collective
The Ship. Panty Lions will be at Tokyo Garden
tomorrow with
Rademacher and Gypsy Cab! The best pre-Thanksgiving drunkfest is town.
