Write a haiku (has to have the word eclectic). Maybe you can see the show for free!

Viva En Vivo!

Famous got some free tickets. We want to give them to you.

KSFR is doin' it again.

If you wanna be there when they do (for free, baby), reply with your best eclectic haiku (you have to use the word eclectic).

First, read the rules, people.

Until then, here's a sweet little interview with KFSR Program Director Frank D.

So we hear there's another Evening Eclectic En Vivo planned for this weekend.

Indeed there is! The last show we put together at the end of March was such a huge success that it was almost inevitable.

Is it the same set-up as the first En Vivo?

It's definitely in the same spirit of the first En Vivo show. My original plan was to get several artists that would truly give the bill an “eclectic” feel, and put them all on one stage. I also wanted to also make sure to have a national/international group alongside some of the best local music.

So who's on the bill this time?

We have four bands booked this Saturday. The music will kick off at 8 p.m. with the up-and-coming acoustic act Aspen Hollow. What I liked about this band is that a lot of other bands in town are fans of Aspen Hollow, and they're getting quite a local following. They're "acoustic" music that doesn't make you feel like hitting the snooze button, and a perfect way to kick off the evening.

Second on the roster is Blake Jones and the Trike Shop, who are not only a great band, but great friends and fans of 90.7 KFSR. They went off to Liverpool last summer and played some gigs across the pond, and their audience is completely across-the-board ... it's like "indie" for all ages. Let's not forget that Blake even has a song about the Evening Eclectic.

After Blake, Nino Moschella will take the stage and lay down some Serious Funk. I don't know if you're familiar with Nino or not, but he's actually a bit of a local act in that he's from Friant. His fanbase, however, spans the entire globe. Most notably, Gilles Peterson of the BBC has really given lots and lots of praise to Nino's music – which mixes gospel-soul, Led-Zep style drums, freaknasty keyboards and the kind of basslines that make the entire audience bob their heads and cringe.

Last, but definitely not least on the bill is a band on DJ Shadows' Quannum Projects. When I plug these guys I always mention that their song is the backing track in the new iMac commercial and that they're playing festivals like Street Scene and Treasure Island – but beyond all of that fluff, it needs to be said that these guys are showmen. Honeycut's stage presence is 100% commanding, their live performances are impecably true to their studio versions, and frontman Bart Davenport struts around that stage with a swagger that's part Jim Morrison and part Mick Jagger. All public relations B.S. aside, this band is just exceptionally great and I almost can't believe we're bringing them here.

How did you pick these bands anyway?

Well, the event is named after our station's weeknight format – “The Evening Eclectic,” which airs Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to midnight. In this format we feature cross-genre playlists that will go from acoustic singer-songwriter cuts to reggae, funk, indie, electronica, etc. We play all four of the bands that are on the bill and our listeners have really responded to their music. So it's almost like a physical incarnation of the format, I guess.

Any favorites in the lineup?

In all seriousness, I'm a fan of all four. My band played a show once with The Same Shape and Aspen Hollow and they blew me away. I love the energy of The Trike Shop's songs and how they appeal to such a wide variety of audiences. Plus they use a theremin – no one but Blake Jones can pull that off. If anyone has heard my sets on the radio, you're also well aware that I'm crazy about Nino and Honeycut. Plus there's the Nino Moschella/Honeycut connection.

What connection?

Let's see. Bart Davenport has done some cameo work on several Ubiquity Records albums alongside DJ Greyboy. Bart is also the guy who brought Nino's recordings to the big-wigs at Ubiquity and let them hear the Moschella lo-fi funk. Uniquity loved it, and signed Nino onto the label! I sorta had this in mind when I first imagined the show, but wasn't completely sure I'd be able to pull it off.

So where, how much, what time....

It's Saturday, Oct. 27 at The Crossroads, which is at the northwest corner of Cedar and Shields (exit Shields from the 168). It's only $12 and the money we make goes toward keeping 90.7-KFSR on the air. We're opening the doors at 7 p.m. and the show will start at 8 sharp. Since it's the Saturday before Halloween, we're also telling people to dress up if they feel so inclined.

And if you don't want to dress up?

Then you can say you're dressed as a KFSR Fan!
